3. Bake a Yule Log

A yule log is simply a chocolate cake made using a jelly roll pan. This results in a thinner cake which is easier to roll up into a decadent, cream filled roll. Here is a wonderful vegan recipe, but your favorite homemade cake recipe is sure to work, just make sure to only fill enough of the pan allowing the cake to rise but not overflow. You can make cupcakes with the remaining batter. Traditionally, the yule log is decorated with meringue mushrooms and sprinkled with a dusting of powdered sugar representing the snow. You can also add fresh pine clippings around the platter for a special touch of nature.
