Daniel Zopoula Highlights the Benefits of Hyper-Immunized Eggs
Bridges of Hope is a Canadian based charity organization run by Alberta based Daniel Zopoula. The charitable organization has partnered with Healthy Child Africa, a children’s organization to provide hyper-immunized eggs to African children. “Gastrointestinal issues are a serious problem in the children living in remote areas of Africa,” explained Daniel Zopoula.
“Contaminated water supplies, like of nutritious foods can create a variety of gastrointestinal problems.” The strategic initiative between Daniel Zopoula’s Bridges of Hope and Healthy Child Africa is one of the many children’s initiatives happening across Africa. What makes this work with hyper-immunized eggs different is the ability to create a prolonged food source that can combat illness. “The hens can provide a community with a sustainable nutritious source that will last long after aid and funding has stopped,” said Zopoula.
That is what makes the hyper-immunized egg and hen projects so unique, their ability to alter the life of entire communities, by providing a sustainable, health boosting resource.
The quality and freshness of the egg is a contributing factor to the nutrient density of the egg, which can be a dietary staple in developing nations. In recent years, Omega 3 enhanced eggs have become popular in the US and Canada. To enhance eggs with omega-3 fatty acids, hens are fed Omega-3 enriched feeds tend to be much higher in Omega-3 fatty acids. These acids are known to reduce triglycerides in the blood levels, a contributor to heart disease.
While eggs in North America are being engineered to reduce heart disease risk factors, in Africa the common hen egg is being enhanced to help combat and prevent illness. Hyper-immune eggs come from hens that have been vaccinated against certain infectious diseases. The hen develops specific antibodies that boost the immune system’s ability to fight the specific diseases included in the vaccination. These antibodies then pass into the hen’s eggs.
Hyper-immunized eggs contain many of the same nutrients as common eggs, however, they also have immunity boosting qualities. “Hyper-immune egg PL-100 (HIE PL-100) is an unadulterated egg protein that delivers uniquely comprehensive immune support to humans,” explains a report from IGY Nutrition. “Hyper-immune egg PL-100 helps cultivate a healthy intestinal microbiome by eliminating harmful pathogens.”
Zopoula believes that enhanced eggs can stave off gastrointestinal infections, which cause dehydration, diarrhea and lethargy which can be fatal in remote parts of the world and developing countries. The enhanced eggs can also be a solution to combatting both hunger and the spread of infectious diseases in developing nations.
