0The Important Media Sustainability Unconference
We here at Important Media are so excited to announce our very first Sustainability Unconference in the sunny city of Honolulu. An Unconference is not a new idea, but it is a unique twist on a regular conference: at most conferences, there are few people on stage, but most of the people you want to speak with are actually sitting next to you! The Unconference style allows this to happen, along with networking and collaboration all day long. We have a loose agenda for the day, but the actual topics for the workshops and speakers are to be decided by the attendees.
Whether you’ve started your own business, developed a smart social media strategy for your brand, or taken up a new hobby that helps you relax, all topics are fair game for the Unconference. The morning features speakers sharing their topic of choice (voted upon by attendees), then a locally-sourced, catered lunch from Oahu’s cafes and chefs, and supplemental speaking sessions with our Platinum level sponsors: ProtoHUB Honolulu, Revolosun, Natural Investments and Hawaii Skylights and Solar. Afternoon sessions will include workshops and a wellness hour, because personal sustainability is just as important as business sustainability! The day will end with a speed networking session that allows all attendees to network with all others to help build Oahu’s sustainability community. And then it’s time for some locally-made beer at our local pubs and bars.
The Honolulu Sustainability Unconference would not be possible without the generous support of our sponsors: Green Magazine Hawaii/Element Media, Down to Earth Hawaii, Indigenous Soap, Honolulu Furniture Company, Cost of Solar, Oahu Fresh, Tiny Footprint Coffee, Tealet, Life Foods, Chic Naturals, Pono Home and many more! We are so thankful for your support.
We are very excited to launch the Unconference in Honolulu and then bring to your city! If you’re interested in hosting or attending an Unconference, email us to let us know how we can make it happen. We look forward to unconferencing with you soon.
