0Entrepreneurship in Solid Waste Management
Not everyone wants to talk about waste, but it’s a pretty damn important topic! Last week our Ecopreneurist Priti Ambini moderated a panel discussion with two entrepreneurs who are disrupting the way we think about waste. The discussion happened last week, but lucky you! There is a YouTube video below that shares their Google Hangout!
The panelists included Tom Szaky, the CEO and Founder of TerraCycle, which is an international upcycling and recycling company that collects difficult-to-recycle packaging and products and re-purposes the material into affordable, innovative products. Also featured is Bilikiss Adebiyi, the CEO and Co-founder of Wecyclers, a social enterprise which leverages low-cost, scalable, easily adaptable technology to collect recyclable waste at the household level. Wecyclers works to solve the urban waste challenge in Nigeria by using a fleet of low-cost cargo bicycles to offer convenient household recycling service in densely populated low-income neighborhoods. Priti Ambini is a writer and editor of Ecopreneurist and works as a sustainability consultant at GreenDen consultancy advising on corporate social responsibility and the triple bottom line.
