2Ed Begley Jr and EcoKaren Dish with the Green Divas
Starting this week, Green Diva Meg joins us to post her fun weekly summary from The Green Divas Radio Show. You can hear her and her wonderfully green guests, streaming live on Saturdays at 10 AM EST or from MP3 or iTunes on archives at The Green Divas Radio.
Welcome Green Diva Meg!!
I am thrilled to join in the Green Living Ideas blogging fun! I hope you’ll enjoy our weekly posts that highlight the best of our weekly radio show and podcast that offer lots of useful green living ideas!
We had a ROCKIN’ show this past week – so much going on that we couldn’t post till now! Seriously, we had a film crew in the studio for the show, and as if that wasn’t enough fun, we got to talk to a few of our favorite Green Divas and Dudes about what they are up to and added some great ideas to our Why Should We Care campaign.
The Sleeping Naked is Green
This segment was kind of different this week. We picked an entry that stated, “Write poetry in haiku form only.” We couldn’t figure out what that meant or why it was green, but we decided to honor some of our favorite poems and poets who wrote about nature. Here’s one poem that was written especially for the Green Divas Radio Show back when we were leaving our old studio and moving to WMTR:
Blessing / Poem
by Coline Fairless, written for the Green Divas Radio Show in May 2011
May we be planted by the waters,
A planting so deep, our roots sink down into the rich moist earth until we stand on solid rock
May our minds and hearts know the intimate touch of the wind, our faces the heat and healing power of the sun,
Until we know ourselves as one with all life.
Listen to this and 2 other poems being read by the Green Divas and Green Dude Paul in this Sleeping Naked is Green 5-minute segment or read about the details on our post for this week’s show.
Why We Should Care
This week, we had two awesome call-ins for this segment:
First the beautiful Sarah Stavrou called in and talked about her design and textile company, Sarafine, and talked about why we should care about recycling. She recycles a lot of old cloth into pillows, jewelry and all kinds of beautiful pieces.
Then the always-fun and informative Ed Begley, Jr. called us and shared about his new project, On Begley Street and of course, his continued passion for finding better ways to live more sustainably. He shared some great thoughts on how easy AND economical it is to get started on the green living path.
Feature Interview
This week’s AWESOME feature interview segment was with your fearless editor, Karen, (a.k.a. EcoKaren). As you well know, Karen is busy changing the world through her blogging and Etsy creations. She not only manages her own site, EcoKaren.com, but she is a Captain on EcoEtsy.com and an editor of this wonderful blog. She dished about doing an workshop on greening small business for Martha Stewart’s Dreamers into Doers annual conference, AND she announced a breaking news, on our show, about Team Eco Esty partnering with Practically Green. We were duly impressed and hope you’ll listen to the podcast and appreciate her enthusiasm and obvious knowledge.
That was it for February 18, 2012 broadcast!
