0How To Make Sour Cream
As topping or addition to a hearty winter soups, sour cream has earned it’s place in the kitchen. However, it’s become too easy to pick up a container at the market and all those plastic containers add up. Instead of clogging up the recycle bin, why not make your own sour cream and save both the environment and your wallet? Making this dairy staple takes only two ingredients and a container for storage, preferably glass.
1. Ingredients Needed for Sour Cream
Sour cream is basically what it sounds like, soured cream. The more fat in the cream, the more thick the final product. So, if you want full on creaminess, then you will need a half quart of cream. If you want to try and live a little closer to the healthy side of life, choose half and half. You will also need about a cup of buttermilk. Don’t worry about leftovers, you can make a batch of tasty pancakes, use it for batter dipping or simply add to any recipe calling for milk. It adds a little something special. If you have a local organic dairy than please check out the availability of cream and buttermilk.
