Composting for the Masses
What do you do to maintain compost?
This is the easy part. Keep it moist, keep it warm (when possible), and keep it balanced. You want a mix of food scraps and leaves or paper. This part takes a bit of trial and error. If you can smell your pile, something is off and it needs to be adjusted.
If you have a tumbler or a box, turn it periodically to allow air to reach the bottom.
Have a worm bin? Make sure those critters stay happy with the food you’re feeding them. Don’t forget, they need water too and don’t let them get too hot. Cooked worms are not a pleasant experience for anyone (especially the worms!).
