Celebrate Earth Day 2009 with a Green Apple Festival Concert
One way to celebrate Earth Day this year is to attend a free concert organized by the The Green Apple Network. Concerts with famous music acts will be organized in 10 cities across America.
The Green Apple Festival, in partnership with the Earth Day Network, is encouraging people to take time out on Earth Day, April 22, 2009 to volunteer to do something for the planet and their community, and get out into nature. You have to sign up online to participate, after which you will be able to attend the concerts held in cities across the US April 17-19, 2009. The cities included are: Atlanta, Austin, Boston, Chicago, Denver, Los Angeles, New York City, San Francisco, Seattle, Washington DC.
“The Flaming Lips” will headline Earth Day On The National Mall in Washington DC on Sunday, April 19, 2009. The free event on the National Mall will be emceed by actor Chevy Chase and feature an eclectic performance line-up with moe., Los Lobos, DJ Spooky, the Joy of Motion Dance Center’s teen hip hop company, Urban Impact. Additionally, Kathleen Rogers, the President of Earth Day Network, actor Matthew Modine, Philippe Cousteau, Gene Karpinksi of the League of Conservation Voters, Dr. Amy Vedder, the Senior Vice President of the Wilderness Society and Rep. Edward Markey, U.S. House.
