Eco Tourism Africa: A Real Adventure!
Eco tourism is big business in Africa and there are many tourism companies claiming to promote it. Although some companies are greenwashed, there are many that are legitimately working to promote environmental responsibility.
One such company is Natural Habitat Adventures, which is the first carbon neutral travel enterprise established. Being carbon neutral means that a company has paid to offset all the emissions created during a guest’s visit. NHA also provides a calculator to its guests, allowing them to determine how many emissions were generated during their air travel so that these can be offset, as well. The company’s site claims that one-third of all greenhouse gases are generated during travel-related activities.
Fourteen different African adventures are offered by NHA, all with an eco tourism focus. Tour sizes are limited to small groups to minimize the environmental impact. One tour that sounds exceptionally inviting is an eight to 10-day Namibia safari. Namibia offers a chance to spot a rare African desert elephant and is a secluded and lovely portion of Africa.
