Might I Suggest Wanderlust Oahu for your New Year’s Resolution?
It’s a popular time of year to set some self-improvement and New Year’s resolutions and goals for personal achievement. If those goals for you include getting healthier, having more fun, and enjoying exotic destinations, might I recommend Wanderlust O’ahu 2017? Wanderlust is one of our favorite events. Andrea and I make a point to attend as many of them as possible, and hope to get to several more in 2017.
It’s a 4 day gathering of wonderful people getting spiritually gangsta’d up, zenning out on diverse yoga classes, noshing on vegan burritos, and blissing out with like-minded yogis from around the world. Oh, and there’s usually amazing music, with headliners from the past few years including my personal man-crush Michael Franti, Moby, Nahko and Medicine for the People, Beats Antique, and more.
While the festival takes place in a lot of stunningly beautiful locations, the O’ahu installment is the only way to experience Wanderlust beachside. Held at the Turtle Bay Resort on the North Shore of O’ahu, Wanderlust O’ahu is celebrating its fifth anniversary this time around.
O’ahu Offerings
As with other Wanderlust festivals, there will be yoga (duh), music (right on), nature activities (neat!), meditation (ahhh), and some killer grinds (yes, please! See typical food options at Wanderlust here). Yoga instructors in tow will include those known worldwide, as well as local Hawaiian folks. Also, Wanderlust O’ahu this year boasts the festival’s largest aerial yoga program ever. Music acts feature Griz, Ron Artis & The Truth, DJ Drez, DJ Taz, Jesse Blake, Roothub, Paul Izak, DJ Melody Jay, and Dancing Flame, just to name a few.
Grubbing on the Green Grinds
Our favorite thing about Wanderlust is the fest’s commitment to sustainability, with the tasty food served up being at the forefront of it all. There are the bigger, foodie events like the Sea-to-Table Dinner and a Salt and Smoke BBQ, both crafted by chef Kevin Callaghan. Plus lots of delicious, local vendor offerings for in between a morning meditation on the sand and your afternoon kayaking excursion.
Land and Sea
Speaking of kayaking, the best part of a beachside Wanderlust are all of the ocean activities, like paddle boarding and surfing, available at this unique event. Plus, land options abound, too – hiking, mountain biking, and cultural walks led by Hawaii’s own Kahokule’a Haiku.
It’s a life changing adventure, and I can’t recommend it highly enough. Hope to see you there!
