How You Can Save Money By Cleaning Your Home Appliances
When you sit down and think about your dream kitchen/home what do you see? I think it’s safe to assume for many people they envision having every home appliance known to man.
Things like toasters, blenders, refrigerators, freezers, ovens, KitchenAid™ KFIS29PBMS*, washers and dryers likely come to mind and whose to blame you, my kitchen/home is currently stocked with all of those home appliances and it sure makes cooking and day to day tasks that much more enjoyable. But did you ever stop to think about just how much all that convenience is costing you every month?
While all those home appliances might make your cooking experience that much more enjoyable, they do come at a price, and I’m not talking about the purchase price. Many electronic devices (especially older ones) require large amounts of electricity to operate, and as a result, you’ll end up with a large electric bill every month. Not only that, many devices are guilty of consuming vampire power which only compounds the situation. Fortunately, there are a few simple things you can do to make sure that you’re using as little power as possible – while maintaining the convenience of your appliances:
- Clean the condenser coils on your fridge/freezer– Doing this on a regular basis can save you upwards of $500 over a 10-15 year period.
- Set your fridge/freezer to the right temperature– Over cooling can cause your fridge/freezer to use more energy than is necessary.
- Clean your dryers lint screen, trap and duct– Keeping lint from building up in your dyer will not only make it more energy efficient, it will reduce your home’s fire risk too!
- Use your washer and dryer efficiently– Energy savings don’t stop with keeping your appliances clean, using them properly can go a long way in saving you money!
As you can see there are lots of ways that you can save money while maintaining the convenience of your home appliances. So the next time you fire up your blender or do a load of laundry try implementing some of the tips described in the articles above, you might just be surprised at how easy it is to save!
