SolarCity Comes To Nevada
In Nevada, SolarCity states that homeowners can go solar for as little as $30 a month. SolarCity now has 400 employees in Nevada, but it will be hiring more soon.
“The company will participate in NV Energy’s SolarGenerations Program, which is currently expected to reopen in August,” SolarCity writes. “SolarCity expects to begin installing at the end of October and will accommodate customers on a first-come, first-served basis. The company will initially serve customers of NV Energy in the greater Las Vegas Area, including the cities of Las Vegas, North Las Vegas, Spring Valley, Winchester, Paradise, Henderson and Boulder City.”
With Nevada’s tremendous solar resources, the state could become a huge solar power market. SolarCity’s entrance into the market is surely a strong signal that’s where it’s headed.
If you’re a Nevada homeowner, SolarCity may or may not be your best option for going solar. I always encourage people interested in going solar to get quotes from a handful of sources, such as Cost of Solar* and EnergySage (though, I don’t think EnergySage serves that state yet).
*Disclosure: Green Living Ideas has a partnership with Cost of Solar, and the two are owned by the same company.
