Natural Cocktails for a Healthier Happy Hour
We were recently sent some Prairie Organic Gin and Vodka for review (#ilovemyjob) and all summer we made delicious, organic cocktails with these fantastic spirits. In this post we’ll share our tips for how to make healthy cocktails and share two recipes for simple happy hour beverages: a Lemon Ginger Gin Fizz and Herbal Vodka Tonic
Natural Cocktail Recipes
Lemon Ginger Gin Fizz
1/4 cup fresh lemon juice 2 Tablespoons fresh grated ginger 1/4 cup organic gin 1 liter plain or flavored sparkling water
- Stir together the lemon juice, ginger and gin in a small jar. Shake to combine, and let infuse for at least an hour (up to a week in the fridge; you can also freeze, if the need arises).
- After infusing, fill two cocktail glasses with ice. Strain lemon ginger mixture into cups, and finish with your choice of sparkling water. Garnish with fresh lemon slices and serve immediately. Makes 2-4 servings.
Herbal Vodka Tonic
½ cup cucumber or regular organic vodka ½ cup fresh chopped herbs (basil, rosemary, dill, cilantro) 1 liter lemon or lime flavored sparkling water or tonic water
- In a jar mix together vodka and herbs. Shake to combine, and let infuse for one hour.
- After infusing, fill two cocktail glasses with ice. Strain vodka mixture into cocktail or martini glasses, add a big splash of tonic water, and finish with a twist of lemon or lime. Makes 4-6 servings.
