Choosing a Healthy Personal Lubricant: Find some Good Clean Love
Clean ingredients are important in all our personal care products, but especially those that come in contact with our most intimate body parts. The mucus membranes in the vagina and anus are especially sensitive, and we should avoid using dangerous ingredients like parabens and polyquarternium-15 in our personal lubricants.
According to a recent study from the University or Pittsburgh, most brands of personal lubricant actually DAMAGE the sensitive mucus membranes found in the vagina. Most brands of personal lubricant feature nasty ingredients like parabens and other endocrine disruptors. Not only are these ingredients bad for the whole body, the use of these lubricants actually increases the risk of developing bacterial vaginosis by 13%. Petrochemical-based lubricant brands can cause significant damage and damage sensitive mucous membranes, and increase the risk of all infections (including STDs and yeast infections).
