“Good” Ideas for Earth Day
Want to do some good this Earth Day? if so, consider giving to a charity using two online tools that can help you become a do-gooder without changing up your routine. At least, that’s what the founders of GoodSearch.com and its sister site GoodShop.com promise site visitors.
With 77,000 nonprofits benefiting from both sites, it’s philanthropy made easy in the form of a search engine and online shopping center.
GoodSearch.com is a Yahoo powered search engine that donates a penny per search to your favorite environmental cause.
GoodShop.com is an online marketplace which has partnered with more than 1,000 stores (from Amazon to Zales) that donates a percentage of each purchase to your favorite environmental cause. It also provides hundreds of coupons and deals and highlights green merchants.
Participating nonprofits include The Nature Conservancy, Conservation International and the NRDC.
Here’s how the sites work:
GoodSearch:
1. Go to www.goodsearch.com. 2. Designate your favorite cause. 3. Search just like you normally would. Every time you search, a penny goes to your cause.
GoodShop:
1. Go to www.goodshop.com. 2. Designate your favorite cause. 3. Click through to your favorite store and shop on their site as you normally would and a percentage of your purchase will go to your cause.
Happy searching and shopping!
