Thank you for your interest in writing for Green Living Ideas. We are always looking for compelling guest posts at Green Living Ideas. We are about keeping green ideas simple and down to earth. If you want to share the latest green news, eco-friendly tips and tutorials, and have a green story, we want to hear from you.

We receive a lot of requests for guest posts, as you can imagine. Unfortunately, we are not able to use everything that’s submitted for various reasons. We may decline to use your post because we have already published the same topic, its quality, the relevance of your topic, because we have more posts than we can use, or your post is too short or too long.

Having said that, we are always looking for guest posts that present new ideas, fresh perspectives, and innovative approaches. We like to present readers with ideas that we haven’t seen elsewhere online.

Things to keep in mind

In short, before you send us your submission, please make sure:

  • you have actually read our blog and have interacted with us by leaving comments.
  • you have researched your topic with facts, stats, credits, and researched quotes.
  • your post convey quality, practical advice for readers of Green Living Ideas who are trying to improve their eco-friendly lifestyle.
  • is able to be used exclusively at Green Living Ideas.
  • it infringes no copyright laws.

What should I post about?

Our readers are very concerned with the social, environmental, and health impacts of their daily lives. Pretty much anything that falls under that umbrella is a good article but please search our site and see what we’ve posted in the past to get a feel for what we are about. And to make sure we haven’t published a similar story in the past.

Specifically, we want to reveal the newest research, latest news, and “breaking” stories. We want more fact and not your opinions. This might sound harsh but while we regard your opinion with upmost respect, we need you as the leading expert in the field and not just an expert on Googling.

Can I repost from my other sites?

No. We require that all guest posts be original pieces written for Green Living Idea’s audience. You are free to publish your guest post on your site, but we do ask that you wait seven (7) days after the post publishes on Green Living Ideas before publishing elsewhere.

How long should my post be?

We do not have a minimum or maximum post length. However many words you need to say what you want to say works for us. What’s more important to us is that your post have useful, well-sourced information and that it be well written.

What format do you accept?

We accept in Word or plain text format but with following guidelines.

  • Include all the information — relevant links, link text, etc. — you want the published version of your post to include.
  • We will choose an image to accompany your post so do not include any images, unless specified.
  • Include the title, headlines, body text, and your byline.
  • Please don’t use bold font in the content text.
  • Subheadings: Highlight your subheadings in BOLD.
  • Links: if you want to mark up a link, include the URL in brackets immediately after the text you’d like to use as the link text. Note that we don’t publish affiliate links in guest posts. If you add them, we will not post your article.

Do you edit my post?

Yes. All posts that appear on Green Living Ideas are edited. We rarely edit them heavily, but we will change titles, include internal links, change format, rework openings or conclusions, or correct grammar and spelling.

Don’t be offended by this—we’re just trying to make every post we publish as successful as possible. We also know what generally works well with our readers.

Occasionally, we’ll send a post back to you with suggested changes. This generally means that we feel the post could be better with more than basic editing. Our hope is that we get a post that is good for you as the author, good for our readers and good for the blog as a whole.

Can I add my bio?

Yes. You’ve worked hard to give us great content, so let us help you promote you. We want to highlight you and your blog. This is largely done in your byline. Bylines should be a sentence or two explaining who you are and what you do. Feel free to include up to two links in it. Your byline will appear at the bottom of your post.

How do I submit my post?

Do you think you have a great idea for a post? First, send us your 3 best writing samples on green living and a pitch – not the actual post – for an awesome article – to Green Living Ideas. Please put “Guest Post for GLI” under the subject line. You may not receive a reply if you don’t follow this guideline.

Thank You!
