Eco Travel Mexico

by GLI Editors in Eco Vacationing

Mexico offers a kaleidoscope of natural wonders, from the Caribbean ocean to the mountains.  Preserving this natural heritage is a must and there are several eco travel companies dedicated to this cause.

One such firm is Ecocolors, which offers tours throughout Mexico, including the Yucatan Peninsula.  Ecocolors has a strict code of ethics for its customers, which includes repacking of food stuffs to minimize waste, leaving behind all rocks and plants found, and washing yourself or dishes 70 meters from any stream or live body of water.

Themed tour packages are available, such as bird watching, kayaking, or fly-fishing tours.

Guests can choose between tours that range from one to 15 days and tours to the Mayan ruins are also available.  Ecocolors also runs educational tours for schools and groups interested in eco tourism.

Before you purchase your travel tickets, check-out rescuetherainforest.org and see if you can use their services– they give profits to charities / conservation groups in Africa.
