Make sure that the waste bags you buy are ASTM certified! There are so many bags on the market that say \”biodegradable\” on the package, but they only break into pieces. They are required to put stickers on those in CA (saying \”biodegradable except as defined by the state of California), but they do not have to do this in any other state (though last I heard NY was going to institute requirements to use the word \”biodegradable\” as well.

I have written something very similar from the perspective of a reptile owner, but parts would apply to cat and dog owners too.

May I suggest rather than sending any organic waste to a landfill that vermicomposting may be a far better option!
