These are great ideas and something I believe strongly in- it's just convincing parents in suburbia USA to allow their kids to walk, bus, bike...in our district, there is a school bus that so many parents dont have their children take because they have to get up so early. The mindset here is all for ourselves, what is good for me, instead of the larger picture- going green needs to impact our convenience. . .so, set the alarm a bit earlier and take the school bus...or get some exercise with your kids and walk if possible.

Electric bikes would definitely be a very cool option. No license required. An awesome form of alternative green transportation. It would lay a great foundation for running errands by pedal power later in life. Dont be fooled... they're not for "lazy people", its truly the best of both worlds for exercise, convenience and freedom.

I am fortunate enough to live in a neighborhood where all the kids go to the same schools. We all take turn carpooling to and from school. It's not only better for the planet but it teaches children to be environmentally conscious at an early age.
