Celebrate your Right to Dry!
Did you know that in some communities it is actually illegal to dry your clothes outside? The simple action of skipping the dryer and letting laundry dry naturally saves a ton of energy and decreases chemical use in the home (who needs fabric softener sheets, anyway? Try using vinegar instead!). But communities across the country have banned natural drying because it’s unattractive and can damage the perception of the community. It’s estimated that 300,000 communities have bans on line-drying.
So three cheers for the Right to Dry Movement! The mission of the Right to Dry Movement is to, “Promote line-drying as a symbol of patriotism, intelligence, and environmental activism, rescuing it from the symbol of poverty and despair that it seems to represent to many Americans today.” Check out the Right 2 Dry Movement– and start one in your community today!
Keep that laundry blowing in the breeze! Sign the petition today at Right2Dry.org!
