5 Eco-Friendly Baby Products New Moms Need

Recently, a pregnant friend mentioned how overwhelming the big box baby stores are. For new parents, it’s confusing figuring out what is really required for the life of a newborn and what is simply a marketing ploy. Luckily, for your mental well being and pocketbook, there are only a few important items a newborn absolutely needs and they are all pretty eco-compliant.

Here are 5 simple things new moms need.

Breast feeding

1. Milk

The most environmentally sound choice is breast milk. There are exceptions where a mother is not able to nurse or in the cases of adoption where it’s not always possible to nurse. In most cases however, nursing is a viable option that Nestle’s and other corporations have made too easy forego. The choice is high cost, formula with subpar ingredients or free breast milk.  And since BPA is finally out of the red flag closet glass bottles are making a comeback. It doesn’t get much greener than that, except using no bottle at all when possible. If you must use formula try to stick to organics or ask your doctor how to make your own. Yes, it is possible to make your own formula.
