As summer approaches, it can be challenging to create the perfect breakfast. Although it is a good idea to start your day with a full breakfast that incorporates all the food groups, the warmer weather makes it difficult to digest heating foods like eggs and sausages.
Here is a recipe for a perfect summertime smoothies. You can create different smoothies by changing out the fruit, or by adding soy, rice milk or another nut milk.
Blend together one of the following combinations:
- apple juice, banana, strawberries
- apple juice, watermelon, cucumber
- banana, nut milk, strawberries
- banana, mango, freshly squeezed orange juice
- orange juice, raspberries, boysenberries, peaches
- a handful of parsley, mint or coriander
Boost your smoothie with one or more of the following:
- 1 Tbs Chlorophyll
- 1 Tbs Spirulina
- 1 Tbs lecithin
- 1 Tbs whey
- 1 shot acai juice
- 1 shot wheatgrass
IMPORTANT: Don’t add yogurt to your smoothie. This is a common mistake, yogurt and fruit do not digest well together.

Does anybody have a good way to hide the taste of spirulina? For some reason its flavor really offends me…
I am glad to read at last a recipe where we don’t put yogurt in your smoothie. I am French and French smoothies do not contain yogurt or icecream…only fresh yummy fruit to be in a olympic form. Moreover Reenita is right: yogurt and fruit do not get well together.
